AC fan delivers a gentle (aka light) breeze, if AC-condensor and radiator is not blocked, only a light breeze goes over radiator.

OEM fan clutch will provide enough air flow, if cowing is there, and AC-condensor/radiator is not filled with bugs/etc.

I would get a thermal sensing gun and see what temp is at thermostat housing. When Volvo's gauge is in the red, shit is about to hit the fan. Your engine may die at a idle if too hot...pistons will be dragging on cylinder wall.

There are different ways to wire it...forget the diode...with your setup, you know AC fan is working...just shied those wires.
