The tailgate picks up it's grounds behind the left hand tail light, IIRC.

And keep in mind that the tailgate lock cylinder shares all of the
lock/unlock and arm/disarm features of the driver's door cylinder.
There are two ground seeking contacts in the tailgate latch for them.
