Theres room for the horns just above the radiator. You can reuse the existing hardware, just have to drill a couple of holes in the fiberglass radiator support. They should have done this from the factory.

Hmm. I did not know. I still like to think that it helped. I'm sure the grill, column support, and half the bumper do their best to fluff things up.

Newbie here and up front apologizing for my naivety.

Can someone please tell where I would find the two horns for a 2006 XC70? I cannot find a diagram of the horns anywhere and need to replace as both have now failed.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks very much,
Zach

neanderthal, you might get better response if you report in proper forum. this forum is for pre 2001 cars.

Kind of off-topic but might be interesting nonetheless:

Actually, turbulent airflow across a heat exchanger is more efficient in removing heat than smooth flow.
Yes and no,

In very simple terms:
Air has a rather low heat capacity so more volume generally outweighs the benefits of turbulent flow (in the case of air, for water it is very much the other way around).
The radiator has a high fin count and usually the design of the fins will cause the air to go from laminar to turbulent flow.
That being said, the difference relocating the horns will make will be negligible. I think I'll do it though, for the looks :D

Just an update:
As I am now working on my T5-R I thought It would be a good Idea to do the same mod as on my s70, it might even make more sense with an intercooler and more heat.

This car has a tempomat and an auto trans, so the area below the tray has a lot less free space. I was not sure if they would fit, but with some fiddling it works perfectly. The pump thingie or whatever on the underside of the tray was the biggest concern, but it fits. I have to do the pnp witch some time soon, can make some pictures then.

This was a studied by a famous rapper named Reynolds...he had a lot of issues and underwent Froudian Analysis eventually.

Old Thread Addition:
I worked on this today. Can't imagine where others were attaching horns down below, on drivers side. Wasted enough time then pulled-the-trigger on removing the deleted SAS blower, attaching both horns to a piece of 1-1/2" 90° aluminum angle stock, then bolting the angle in place using the two threaded holes from the SAS bracket.

HOWEVER... one horn now faces down into the splash shield and the other had to be tilted forward so the splash shield/air dam could be reinstalled.

Obviously, I'm going to have another go at it....just not today. Preferable location for me is one horn/side, deep up into the frame where the bumper attaches. I'll have to drill new holes, extend one side of the horn wiring harness, and fashion brackets.

At least now though I took some action on this. On to prepping the rear washer to spray on the condenser.

Too bad the photos are Toes Up.

I'm curious how the horns are mounted "just above the radiator" on the fiberglass radiator support? Just where is that?
