I used plastic pipe until it shattered, then I used the bolts. Not a satisfying process, but it worked.

I used a grinder on mine, there was no way it was going to fit otherwise, later I discovered the local parts place sold me the wrong part, there is a difference , some models have alum control arms, others are steel and they have different diameters.
It turned out ok, that was 3 years ago.
