Trying to reset maintenance reminder

I have tried many different ways to reset this message but it just flashes a 35 and the service reminder comes right back on. Iv'e googled my brains into mush and found nothing on it. Does anyone else get the 35 and is there a fix besides the stealership?

Some say to have all doors closed and the trip meter on T1 and not at 0. But not sure how important this actually is.

I've done it with doors open without issues. Unsure about which trip but probably 1 since that's the one I use.
