P2 cars have never had anything but the five speed with the I5 engine. 99-00 S80 for example have the five speed.

-00 V70 is a different car altogether and not really comparable.

The only 4 speed on the P2s is the one fitted to the I6 engines. It's a GM transmission that Volvo modified to make it softer shifting and more likely to break. At least if you follow the service scheme and never change the oil.

2000 model P 80 S/V70 with XC or 2.4T badge had a 4 speed auto

2000 model P80 V70R and non turbo had a 5 speed auto and these were also problematic but not due to stop neutral which wasn't fitted in the North American market. Valve bodies were the main culprit in these unless fluid was done regularly from new.

I now own a 2001 V70 T5 and for my needs the best car I have owned. I punched out the transmission filter which was lowering fluid pressure and replaced it with a Magnefine filter. Best thing I ever did for my car...
