Wow, what a hassle you went through. If you have the info, it would be worth listing the 'correct' part numbers for users here, and if you can get them the bad serial numbers of the faulty pumps. Chances are there maybe old stock out there still.

Thanks for the update and glad you found a solution. There is little chance any of use here would have got that wierd combination of issues.

I have the stock number for the filter somewhere in a RAF (random access file). I'll see if I can find it to post here. I recall that the E-85 filter had a rectangular pattern of small, maybe 1mm, holes, versus the correct filter that is just a nylon mesh that is porous throughout. Appearance wise they are distinctively different.
