Installed new ABS Module, Maybe wrong one?

Post by volvooh »

I had the ABS/Trax light, so i replaced my ABS Module. I had actually done it 9 years ago with a reburbished unit from BBA reman. It had a lifetime warrenty and they sent me another to swap.

The one that came out of the car had 6 recepticles for the plungers, this new one has 8. Once installed I took it for a drive. ABS light was still on, now now speedo. The trax light is off now, but when you press the button to disable it, it does not stay off.

Cound I have received the wrong module?

I wanted to bump this...my situation was with the old module I had ABS/Traxs light on. With the new module, I have the ABS light on, no trax on, no speedo and no odometer. The valve config was different from the old module to the new one though. I checked the ABS fuse and it is okay, same with the relay.

Edited to say I went on Ebay and compared '99 and '98 abs modules specifically the valve config. The one I received seems consistant with the '99 module. I assume a '99 will not function in a '98?

They gave you a module for a 99-2000. Those have blue coils. Your old module had black and tan coils.

No, it won't work in your car.

Thanks. I ended up pulling the new one back out and you are correct. Sent them both back. BBA sent an overnight label to me and are returning overnight as well. Hopefully it will be back here tomorrow afternoon.
