Wiriing diagrams for these cars are free online, but we don't host here by legal agreement with Volvo
I’m in no hurry, but can you suggest a website I could look at? Sounds like a lot of disassembly on the interior. Not a clue where to start following wire bundles. I figure under the center console then up behind the dash. I already took the dash off over the weekend to reinstall a chrome ring that had fallen off the tach in the gauge cluster. Took about a half hour total job. But, a website for now would be great, but I understand legal stuff.

Thanks a lot for your assistance!!!! It’s been a big help.

I think the site is volvowiringdiagrams.com but the scans are poorly paginated and they are incomplete. The seats should be the same 98-00 so grab all three years - sedan and wagon.

I have better luck using the service manual but it so for the 850: www.matthewsvolvosite.com/downloads/Volvo_850.zip

I have not compared the two but circuit wise they are likely identical or very close to it but I don't know if the wire colors changed.

I Had one those circuit breakers fail on me, you have to remove the 4 torx screws at the cowl located fuse box to get to them.

Reach up from the back side near the seat hinge and feel for a cam flopping around. The cam control a micro switch that tells the control module when the seat back is tilted or not. The cam is spring loaded and one attachment is plastic. When the plastic attachment breaks the the micro switch is in tilted mode all the time and seat controls are disabled.

This is a common on the P80 seats. Once you figure out how it works, the fix is easy. I substitute Elastic Hair Bands for the spring to correct the problem. Feed the Elastic Hair Band through the hole on the cam, on the front side of the seat post there is a square hook to hold the other end of the Elastic Hair Band. Five minute fix after you know where to attach the Elastic Hair Band.

I just looked and felt around for the switch/Cam around the hinge area. I did not see or feel anything. I don’t think my s70 has one. Am I just missing it?

Well the mystery has been solved. I was just talking with my buddy that gave me the car. He told me the car didn’t originally come with a power passenger seat. He added it after the fact. Jumped power off the heated seat button. You have to have the heater button on for the seat to work. Wow. I would have never guessed. Never use the seat heaters.......at least I learned a lot more about the car and the wiring/controls. 😀. Knowledge is always a good thing!!!!
