Re: Changed fuel pump 1998 volvo v70xc.
I ordered a genuine volvo fuel pump assembly from fcp euro. Do you guys got any tips for getting the wires up to the wiring harness? I dont want to splice the wires on this one since it was 400 dollars. I dont want to splice the wires and ruin the warranty for it. This is the part i ordered.. https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... 74#reviews

It certainly won't be easy as there is a bunch of stuff in the way from the pump to the hatch in the floor. I only managed it as I dropped the full rear sub-frame and fuel tank.
The 2000 R I did this on will be somewhat different to yours but maybe worth looking at the pictures I posted when doing the job. It will not be a 100% perfect guide but at least give you an idea.

Ok thanks for the help. Maybe attatch a string to other end to show me where it originally went through then use a coat hanger to pull it through

Well i changed it all out with the genuine part and started up right away. Looks like pro parts sweden parts was a huge ripoff and made me have to do the job twice. Oh well always genuine or oem from now on

Hate it when that happens. At least you now know what it was.Brianscott wrote: ↑19 May 2018, 11:41 Well i changed it all out with the genuine part and started up right away. Wisdom requires knowledge as a prerequisite, but knowledge can be developed due to a lack of wisdom.
In order to learn how to fix something, you must first learn how to break it.

Yeah it made me rethink if the fuel pump was the issue or not. But knowing that it was getting fuel at rail before and now i wasnt i took the better guess at the new aftermarket pump being a piece of junk lol

It really sucks when this happens. I had this happen with a couple of aftermarket parts, the worst being Pro-parts Sweden parking brake cables that were too short, and a scan-tech PCV pipe that split shortly after fitting. Glad you got there in the end and sorry that you had to go through that hassle as it is worse when it is on an AWD car.
Did you find out what the extra wire was for? I don't recall what it was for.
Neil.
