98 V70 driver's door electric window issue

Neil, I know this is a very old thread, but any update on this? I have an issue with my drivers window that sounds similar. Mine just stops working up or down. That is until I turn the car off and back on again. After that it works just fine. This happens of course at the most inconvenient time. I have replaced 3 windows switches with new after market. Thank goodness for lifetime warranties. But I am certain since it has done it with both aftermarket switches it isn’t the switch. I do not know however if it did this with the OE switch. I hadn’t heard the car long enough to find out before I replaced it because the rear switches physically broke and needed replacing.

The issue in this case was a lack of lube on the sliders and an aftermarket switch going bad. I swapped in another used master switch and lubed the sliders and the guides with silicon oil. So far that has been good. The other issue I have had with random issues with items working from the master switches is broken wires in the harness between the front of the door and the A pillar.

The wires over many years of door opening eventually harden and then the casing splits. I have repaired 3 or 4 harnesses for different issues including the passenger side door mirror. Actually in that case it was a broken wire in the passenger front door.
