Fixed. It was definitely a two-person job! I unscrewed the star bolt from the door holder to allow the door to open a bit more and get a little extra working room. Turns out this was enough, so I didn’t have to take the door panel or the door itself off. In the process of wiggling the wire harness around to get to the green wire, the black wire broke off (of course). The solution was:
1) Cut a small piece of wire (had some lying around) and splice it onto the black wire using flux/solder to make it about half an inch longer. Then flux/solder the end of that to the broken bit that was stuck in the wire harness. Heat shrink the whole mess, and done.
2) Strip about 1/3” of insulation off the end of the broken green/white wire. Strip a little insulation off the good green/white wire near where it goes into the harness. Instead of trying to solder the broken ends together like the black wire above, just flux/solder the green wires together farther upstream. Electrical tape that whole mess, and done.
It’s working for now. I think I’m gonna enter and exit the car thru the sunroof from now on so I don’t have to open the driver door and flex the new wiring. Thank you SO MUCH for your guidance!

Greetings from Maui Hawaii;
So glad I found this thread.
I have a 2009 XC70 Wagon. Love my car so much. My second Volvo Wagon from a family of Volvo owners. Been trying to do understand & do a lot more of the repairs on my car & keep up with the issues. Luckily I really haven't had to many problems
I DO HAVE some issues now though.
My most recent issue is the right rear turn signal was not blinking at all for a while & was just solid.
Now however it has stopped completely. I'm not a electrical type guy at all so everything is foreign.
Any insight on what & where I should look would be greatlly appreciated.

Anyone ever heard if this issue was able to be resolved? I had the exact same problem with my 06 xc90 just in the past week and it drove me nuts trying to find the source of the problem until I came across this post. Lifesaver! I still have to get mine rectified.
