Totally agree with this, and it's a very important point when buying winter tires. On the other side, I had the Snowtrakker's and while they are averaged priced tire (not among the cheaper out there), they do perform quite well (actually very well in deep snow) and I would expect the studs to give them the needed ice grip. Those would be the tires (that I know) I would recommend on a smaller budget. They also wear well (long lasting).
