Thanks a lot I did get the panel off. I pulled the switch. Then I realized my footwell lights were on. So I put the switch back. I have one (salvaged) in the mail (this morning) from Maine in with the same part number. I hope it is plug and play. I couldn't get a definitive on this question. I hope it is just a brand new one that needs to be programmed! I got a great deal for around 13 bucks including shipping!

Never thought it would be this easy. Replacement was from a same year 2004 xc70. The switch looked brand new to my eye. Maybe it was cleaned up real nice. Now I just need to put the drivers window back on its tracks and get an inspection!
