It is crazy how a car can have relocation issues. I mean lets face it, it is like a person who has never experienced winter: You do not know what their reaction will be.
Anyway, drivers side window was partially frozen I guess; I went to roll it up (outdated term) and it came off of it's tracks or something just sort of flopped off to the side. Still haven't tried to fix it -- but I had got it to catch up into fully closed position. Then I forgot it was broken and on a 2 hour roundtrip drive to pick up something at around 30 degrees I tried to roll it back down and it flopped again and I ended up driving half the trip home with it half way down and stopped every so often to try to get it to stay shut.
Now Passenger side. I admit I forgot to close the window like I did with my 850 all the time... But this time, I didn't want it to get broken like the other side so I left it get snowed on once or twice and then when it thawed I rolled it back up -- seemed to be fine. Now: Lock, Mirror, and Window do not work on that side, including working it from its own (passenger side switch).
I'd like to fix this ASAP. I was lazy forgot to get inspected for the last few months since returning from Florida to Vermont with the vehicle. Now I realize I can not get inspected with broken windows!
I have an OBD2 reader and am wondering what the first logical step is in trying to figure out the passenger side lack of function. It surely has to be related to the cold and or snow and water that got into the door while it was open. Of course after years of bad Window closing habits my 850 never has had that problem? Hm...
Inherited 2005 V70, it's mad to come to Vermont from Florida! Window problems...

The window regulator has nylon slide blocks that breakdown over time or due to lack of lubrication. They usually will squeak while going up for a time before they fail. The passenger side sounds like the door module has failed. Sometimes you can re-boot the PDM and it will come back on line so to speak. There are fuses on the left side of the dash for the door module. With the key on pull the fuse and reinsert it. That may or may not work. The other way is to pull the connector at the door jam. Considering moisture has gotten into it you would need to replace the PDM. It is part of the switch and sits right below it. I am not 100% sure but a used one might function but not correctly. hopefully someone will chime in on this.

I would agree with voltech1 about both the slider pieces in the drivers door and that, since you lost ALL functions in other door, that it either blew a fuse or the harness connector at the door jamb has failed.
As far as replacing the PDM goes, it can be done without any reprogramming, HOWEVER, there is a little white sticker on the module with some numbers that must match that of the replacement. I just doubt that the problem lies within the module.

If you're not familiar, watch some YouTube videos on removing the inner door panel, save yoursrlf a ton of aggravation.plumsmooth wrote: ↑14 Dec 2018, 18:47 It is crazy how a car can have relocation issues. Any Volvo dealership sells the slider blocks, less than $10.

Thanks so much for your responses and bearing with my overly long write-up. I could have gotten to the point without the story line. This has given me a good starting point! And I really appreciate it.
Update just found the Fuse list: There doesn't seem to be a fuse that covers all three functions of Windows, Locks, and mirror, on passenger side?
Edit: Thanks to someone else talking about this, I see it is 36. The start of the explanation of 36 is defroster, I hadn't read past that..

Does anyone really think freezing rain getting into/through the window seal could blow my PDM? Seems the vehicle should be designed to take a little moisture? I tried the fuse and replaced it with the spare to no avail with the key turned on. No Luck. Wiring harness is I guess something I have to look at on the "inside of the panel" because all I can see with the door open is a short length of conduit that looks attached on both ends.

Update my OBD scanner failed 13 points indicated on PDM list including the module. I cleared the data, then it failed 4 points including the Module itself "internal fault". Does that mean it is blown. That sucks. All because I left the window open for a few days?

I can not even find this part available anywhere? Does the PDM go by another name? I am losing my mind. I am signing off on this project for the day.

O.K. I think I figured out what happened. The snow that had accumulated on top of the switch -- which now I realize sits right on top of the module -- melted and water must have dripped under and into it. Do you think pulling the switch out (now that I realize can be done with the paneling intact (easy)), is worth a try to dry and maybe clean it? Thanks...
