What is the battery condition? Check it if you are able or pull it and take it for testing if you can.

Failing to start on ether doesn't necessarily mean there is no spark, it might just mean that the spark timing is whacked. This could be another case of the long crank when cold issue that Volvo TSBs suggest to be an issue with the crankshaft sensor signal even though the crank sensor is known good. Only on this particular vehicle it never actually starts where on other examples they eventually start after cranking on the starter for a very long time.

Hi everyone, sorry for the delay. Have not been able to work on the car because of the weather. I finally got her running (with some help from a friend). It was the water temp sensor. Thank you all for the help and suggestions, they went a long way towards resolving the problem.
