In that case cant I just adjust my wastegate linkage to hold more boost?

1998. 1997 is the last year for using a manual boost controller without an ECU tune.

In that case I probably cant just tighten the wastegate linkage my cars was built in 97 but the vin code says is a model year 1998

Literally purchased both cars from different sellers on craigslist in the same week. One has an excellent body and transmission the other has good motor and trans but beat up body.. between the 2 I am starting my new build

My wife's car is on the far end.. same color, motor, everything except hers is MY 2000 and its front wd

Paid $450 for the one with the good motor and trans got the one with penguins sticker free from my neighbor..

Cool! Good looking V70. You can adjust the wastegate for different behavior. What it does is change the RPM range when boost is available, not the amount of boost. It's a misconception that it'll increase or decrease boost pressure itself.

Confused.. the attached article says that adjusting the wastegate will increase or decrease the amount of available boost which is what I thought it would do. The wastegate keeps the turbo from overboosting via spring/mechanical pressure against waste gate door??

Perhaps this is just my ignorance, but when I turn up my wastegate pressure I get an overboost code and my computer compensates by cutting fuel my tuner guy says that's what he tunes for.. he adjusts the computer to accept a higher value.. man now I'm really confused! Again pardon my ignorance I've only been into volvos for a few years and just recently started nodding them
