1998. 1997 is the last year for using a manual boost controller without an ECU tune.tardcart wrote: 13 Apr 2019, 18:31 not sure when boost pressure became part of the ECU input. 2000 im guessing, could be 99. Im only guessing, but people use the 99 and 98 ECU in 850's so must not have boost pressure input.

Cool! Good looking V70. You can adjust the wastegate for different behavior. What it does is change the RPM range when boost is available, not the amount of boost. It's a misconception that it'll increase or decrease boost pressure itself.

Confused.. the attached article says that adjusting the wastegate will increase or decrease the amount of available boost which is what I thought it would do. The wastegate keeps the turbo from overboosting via spring/mechanical pressure against waste gate door??

If it was that easy, the ECU tuning companies would be out of business.

Perhaps this is just my ignorance, but when I turn up my wastegate pressure I get an overboost code and my computer compensates by cutting fuel my tuner guy says that's what he tunes for.. he adjusts the computer to accept a higher value.. man now I'm really confused! Again pardon my ignorance I've only been into volvos for a few years and just recently started nodding them
