Just did this on Evita the S70

On ME7, I get one cycle of immobilizer fail when I start the car with the unchipped key.

Start procedure is

POS III - car starts, runs one second , stops
Turn key back to POS 0. count to three
POS III - car starts and runs.

If you find a hardware store that will cut Volvo key blanks post it here. Ace Hardware does not carry Volvo key blanks, remotes or fobs. They will not do anything not bought from them. (You cannot buy a blank off eBay and take it to Ace Hardware to be cut).

Here, The local independent locksmith can cut the key blank if you bring one but cannot do the programming.

As it turns out, the best way to get a replacement key is with a metal detector. Thanks for your help.

Spider...put a Tile (tm) on that solo key pronto. Newest ones have a 100 meter range and you can both GPS locate and ring them from a phone app. I’ve got a Tile on every key except SWMBOs

From what I can see the tag is not GPS enabled. Your phone networks with other Tile enabled phones. If one of the other phones finds the tag it reports the location of the tag. Kind of like a electronics Amber alert. It only works if another Tile enabled phone is within range and hears your tag.

That’s right. No monthly fees, but’s it’s a local “find and seek solution “ which doesn’t work unless you can either retrace your steps .or get to within 100 meters of the loss site

For us, it cut down on the “ where are the keys” issues especially In 8-drivers-home summers
