Intermittent Charging System Failure message with B1087 code
Re: Intermittent Charging System Failure message with B1087 code
I have the same issue on my xc70 2010. Lin bus shorted, circuit open etc, engine hessitates after warming up, misfire of 5th cylinder, door lock failure, ignition coil primary secondary circuit issues. I thing it is related to lin bus, maybe ECM failure? I did work on serpentine belt and since then been having issues with misfires, and messages as in the topic. Battery seems good and alternator too. Im clueless

For my 2010 S80 I would get
P1087 Not permanent (Resolved on its own)
P2568 Not permanent (Resolved on its own)
Then last year I replaced the Radiator with the Prem Air sensor.
This sensor is on the LIN bus I believe
And it has been a year and the code didn’t return.
I documented this on $10,000 S80 Challenge
Note I did try to replace the sensor first but I broke the Radiator.
As for the misfire I need more information. Have you changed your Thermostat? What Spark Plugs are you using? Have you swapped ignition coils? Did you inspect coil #5 to see if appears broken?
Thanks
Paul

I’ve been meaning to get to replacing the radiator sensor, but my wife has been living with the intermittent charging system error, so the new sensor is still sitting on my workbench . Today it also threw a P2568, which indicates the Environmental Air Catalyst sensor on the radiator.
I guess I’ll see if I can replace the sensor without breaking the radiator.
