This kind of says it all, AlanI don't want to spend what's left working on my car.
Im in the opposite boat - but I enjoy working on cars as a counterpoint to the technology stuff I deal with at work - its satisfying to clean parts and restore something to perfect working condition to me. Honing the troubleshooting skills also is intellectually satisfying, too.
I will say I spend more than I 'should' buying like new parts, fasteners, connectors, etc - to avoid the nasty part of home auto repair.
