Hi.
I am still experiencing the same issue. I have changed the TCV valve to the one suggested above, but it made no difference.
All suggestions welcome.
Pressure builds up to the point where the dipstick is pushed out and oil sprays all over the fan and alternator.
Thanks
Intermittent loss of power

Does it pass the glove test?protonsnow wrote: ↑12 Sep 2020, 11:43 Pressure builds up to the point where the dipstick is pushed out and oil sprays all over the fan and alternator.
Did you change the Oil Trap when you did the PCV?

No, if pressure is building in the engine, it does not pass the glove test.
And yes, oil trap was changed as listed in my first post.

Did you check if the oil drain passage to the sump was clear when changing the PCV? Sounds like the most likely culprit

Thanks for the answer. Yes I did. I unclogged it as much as possible (wasn't that bad). In fact, the old oil trap wasn't really that bad either, but since I was experiencing this issue I changed the whole thing.
The funny thing is that if I'm driving fast enough (rpms higher than 3000) this does not happen. Also, when the engine is cold, it runs fine. I can get in the car in the morning, and it drives normally. If I stop it and come back a little later (I mostly experience this when going to the supermarket, so let's say 30 minutes later) when I come back and start it again, with engine still warm(ish), I always experience loss of power. Then if I rev it to 2500 rpms and keep it there for about 5 or 6 seconds (while moving), it suddenly 'releases' and regains the power.

Also (forgot to mention this):
Before the PCV change the engine would idle erratically. Now it doesn't, but I do feel a slight jerk/hesitation on acceleration (when there's no power loss). When the power loss issue occurs, the engine makes a lot more noise and progresses really slowly.

Nope you listed Breather tube, Oil and Oil filter but not Oil trap. That is why I ask.
How about the rest of the hoses in the PCV system, leaks, blockage ... ect. Ports from Oil trap to Crankcase can clog up.

Please go back and look again. I clearly listed 'oil trap' in the list of parts I changed (my first post in this thread).
I also changed all the hoses. Not really sure what the 'banjo bolt' is.

It has a banjo bolt. (the one that connects the thicker pipe to the right side of the engine)RickHaleParker wrote: ↑13 Sep 2020, 10:54 Never mind the Banjo bolt did not come out until 2002.
Did you clean out both ports from the Oil trap to the Crankcase?
Am I correct in assuming the fact that the dipstick gets pushed out releases the pressure? If so, I don't really understand how it can be building up further, since the dipstick is always out now (I deliberately never push it back in).
