Have you tried Erie Vo-vo for an axle? They guarantee their used Volvo parts.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just called and they said they don't have any for a manual. They also noted they "don't deal with the older cars as much anymore"

Haha I know I felt insulted. That said I was watching a TV show where the contestant was talking about being a broke chef and using how her car had 140k miles example. At which point I felt pride lol.

I called around and the Volvo reman axle was 450-600$ and my Indy suggested using the brand I just had the failure with. I found a Napa axle (Cardone I think) which was listed for only the 99 manual transmission. Called to confirm and the rep said it didn't list additional fitment for auto trans, so I'm cautiously optimistic. Part was $80 with a lifetime warranty. I got it for 20% off with an online promo they were running.

I'll replace the axle and report back
