Oil cooler lines, transmissions cooler lines, and the heater core hoses :?

Those are what concern me the most at 201,000 miles, at least.

The engine, transmission, clutch and turbo are all original.

I'm not sure that everything that's bolted to the engine, transmission, clutch and turbo has been replaced at least once, but I have two file boxes overflowing with receipts and invoices, so it seems almost like that.

I am fairly sure there are not many here who still have a car they bought new. Certainly, I have only bought one new vehicle in my life and that was 20 years ago when we first moved to Canada. Couldn't find a decent Volvo big enough, so ended up with a Honda Oddity mini-van. As mini-vans go, it was the best of what there was at the time from a design/user capacity but was 100% the worst piece of crap I have ever owned and I owned a few of those over the years. Transmission issues from new, electric door harness issues (had 2 in 2 years), brake and suspension issues all under 20,000 miles and the worst driver seat I have ever had. Had to modify the seat to make it work. Following year Honda changed the seat!

Adding the loss in value over the first 3-4 years, I seldom buy anything newer than that. Must be my Scottish blood!

On the other hand I have owned many used cars and mostly Volvo or GM. Many of my Volvos over the last 20 years have been P80's and all have needed significant work. There is definitely a different approach to vehicle ownership here in Alberta Canada. I am convinced vehicle owners take pride in spending nothing on maintenance!! By the time the vehicle is 10 years old it is not worth the investment to bring back.

Neil. :(
