Be careful with part numbers on that FPS. There is a chassis break in the XC90 line I remember working shockwave, so order by VIN.

OK be careful in general but, OP has the same car as mine that's the right part number.

As has been mentioned, thoroughly evaluate any populated DTC’s. The presence of breadcrumbs should be in a trail formation. This trail is a good thing to follow. Also don’t forget to re-check any recently performed work.

Shooting from the hip, it could be several things as pointed out. One thing not brought up that could be a source is a faulty cam phaser (aka VVT actuator). Some are serviceable, some are not. I don’t believe yours is of the serviceable variety, but I may be wrong. I’d be looking at the exhaust phaser before the intake, but don’t go removing stuff until you catch a glimpse of the rabbit hole.
