It's likely that other stuff is going to break on your car or engine prior to the oil itself truly being a factor.

Personally, I use Liqui Moly Synthoil 5W-40. Been using it for years. High quality stuff, done many 7500 mile changes with several oil analysis tests run and good wear numbers. I get it for a decent price on FCP Euro.

I have also used Mobil 1 10W-40 High Mileage for a couple 10,000 mile changes with no issues and good numbers.

About to hit 300,000 miles.
Yeah, i have heard too, that people use 10W-40 here, in Germany. I used to thought that Volvo used to make its own oil, so i definitely had to use just that

We really need a FYI thread about oils. Did not find it via search function.
Now to my question, can you, people, suggest the most optimal oil brand?
Started changing oil around mid 70's.

Tried recently:

Good but a little expensive.
5W40 Leichtlauf High Tech Engine Oil (5 Liter) - Liqui Moly LM2332
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/5w-40- ... oly-lm3864

Terrible! 3 cars didn't like it. Engine groans when pushed (WOT) and less power.
Mobil 1 Full Synthetic Motor Oil 0W-40
https://www.costco.com/.product.100169676.html

Good, engine very quiet - Little less power - was in 2019 Atlas.
Kirkland Signature 5W-30 Full Synthetic Motor Oil 5-quart, 2-pack
https://www.costco.com/kirkland-signatu ... 27865.html

Best all around but SN is no longer on label so they can come out with the Rotella Gas & Truck Oil. Most power and robust oil. Have used for over 7 years.
Shell Rotella T6 Full Synthetic 5W-40 Diesel Engine Oil
https://www.amazon.com/Shell-Rotella-Sy ... 176&sr=8-5

Will likely be using this going forward as it is VW Certified for the 2019 Atlas. Would like to inventory one oil so will see how the other cars like it as the Atlas engine is almost silently quiet, silky with good mileage and power.
Castrol 03101 EDGE 0W-40 A3/B4 Advanced Full Synthetic Motor Oil, 5 quart
https://www.amazon.com/Castrol-03101-0W ... 196&sr=8-5

Swepco is #1 - Started using various products early 2000 when Ferrari Club owner introduced me to it. The local Rep said he use to sell 20 cases a month to Los Gatos before... Has gotten too expensive to use.
