Re: seat swap / skin
I need skins from both passenger and driver sides. I hope I can pull the entire seat back then the skin and pad from the seat bottom

I think you might find its easier to just remove and reinstall the seat skin. When I had my seats out I couldn't find a way to detach the entire back of the seat. Also the seat base foam doesn't appear to be easily removed.

Bum! I guess I should take a lunch with me to the parts yard - I may be there for a while...

Seriously, once the headrest is off it should take you less than a half hour to get the base and back skin off per seat. Take a screwdriver to expand the hog rings and a needle nose plier to pull them out. Some rings are easier to just cut with side cutters. Also bring vise grips to remove springs (6 per seat back I think) and a tiny screwdriver for the Lumbar support knob. oragex has a couple good videos to remove the knob and the headrests. You can do it!

The parts yard seat is almost all the way back, so I don't know if I can get to the rear bolts. I like the idea of yanking the seat and seat back out and leaving the seat base in place..
I don't mind a little blood sacrifice if it works![]()
It's going to be difficult to remove the big rear cushion springs but you may try removing the two front seat floor bolts, disconnect cables, and push flip at the top the seat back with a vengeance to bend the rear rails and expose the bottom of the seat
It's ok to swap only the top skin, but I suggest swapping the bottom skin along with the cushion, because it's the cushion spring base that gets weak with age and sagging and it's less comfortable. Grab the one from the passenger seat

what size are the floor bolts?
And I need to check the heater grid too - the ones on my car are out. But I bet it's a relay or something.

M10 bolts hold the seats in. Make sure you plan the seat position for removal before you disconnect the battery.

On my place you can grab a used battery and go inside, but moving an electric seat with a battery is like starting the Space Shuttle. I had to put the wires somewhere on the pcb to activate the switches. For the heater core, check first the two hoses inside engine bay, going into the firewall, see if both are hot. Other things, maybe a busted thermistor at the CCM

You can bring a jump pack and move the seat by driving the motors directly
