Injector leaking into cylinder it sounds like? Would explain the clean cylinder relative to the others.

I have to remove the fuel rail to do the PCV cleaning. Could I find any clues to a leak while doing that? Maybe replace the injector o-rings and manifold seals?

You might see a telltale in the intake manifold once it has been removed. Replacing the 'o' rings and seals won't fix the problem. It is the internal injectors seal that is dirty possibly. Having the injectors cleaned and tested would be a possibility while they are out for the PCV service.

Nice high compression for 200k miles. Good ring and valve sealing. A lot of reasons the numbers can fluctuate during the pump up, I would not worry about that.

It’s about &20-25 each to get injectors cleaned and “ balanced” but these things seem to last a long time on Volvos

Yes. Put the rail-with-injectors on a towel on top the valve cover and turn the key to position II to activate the fuel pump and put some pressure in the system. None of the injectors should leak fuel.

That sounds fair. Looks like I have to mail them away to be cleaned. Can anyone recommend one cleaning company over another?

Great, I can easily try that during the PCV cleaning! Thanks for the tip.

Did you say that the knock during each crank was the injector? The fuel pump relay was removed for the compression test. Two other cylinders gave a knock on one of their 5-6 cranks, but cylinder 5 knocked each time.
