- The video link below shows the guy using Air Hammer, which I don't think is a good idea, too risky IMHO...
You can clearly see the rusty parts in the video.

- BEST is to wait a bit for the PB Blaster to soak in. It may take a week to soak in.

- I assume ROTATE/Tug/Pull?

Lift it with your fat chisel, tear the seal with a small angled pick, spray the gap with PB Blaster liberally. Otherwise PB has little chances to get in far enough to reach the C-clip.

Guys, sometimes you just got to spend the money to make the job simple.

I got an axle popper and it will go out in seconds with a few good taps.

Chris11211 - I am currently using that exact pickle fork as a paper weight. . Bought it for this axle when I realized it would not pop out using my chisel and pry bar.... and this pickle fork did not work for this particular, extremely difficult) axle either. I will let it soak in PB Blaster for a long while, keep respraying, then go back to this nightmare in a few days. (I also found a new thicker chisel and look forward to introducing it to Mr. Axle.

ALL - Thanks for all the tips and tricks. I will provide an update mid week. I will stay the course working with the fork, chisels, pry bar, prayers, etc until... until extracted (or broken off).

Good luck and don't forget to grease the splines on your new axle, lightly.

Someone above said "pick on the seal in situ...", it does not work, there is no space for it.

Below is the link for my DIY, you can see that in contrast to P80 (the 850, S70 series), the P2 trans uses a blind cup, so the end of the axle sits in a blind hole, no exposure to ATF, thus the rust in the rust belt areas.

Here is a pic from that DIY showing the blind hole.
So the idea of PB Blaster for 1-2 weeks should work...
Just spray a bit each day, spray the top of the junction (btw the tripod and the trans)...

O.P.,

You may want to tilt the LEFT side up (jack stand or ramp only on the LEFT side) to allow PB Blaster to soak inside the blind hole...
