The rabbit holes there are notable because of the subject: motor oil. Not religion, politics, race, or covid. It's motor oil.

That's because the world is full of useful idiots who could be labeled "FOLLOWERS"... My generation had a great leader that once said "Trust but verify.". To answer your question for this case is:

Japanese racks use 3309 ATF. Identified easily as non-variable assist steering.

German ZF racks use Pentosin power steering fluid. Identify as variable-assist steering standard on the S80 T6 optional on others.

It makes sense a Japanese rack would use a synthetic Japanese spec fluid and a German rack would use a European spec synthetic fluid. It actually sounds logical to even me      !June

- The original P80 (1993-2000 850, S70, V70 etc.) used ATF Dexron-III at $3/qt.
- The P2 (2001-2010 models), many models use Pentosin PS fluid.

Similar ZF PS pumps for P80 and P2 cars, but specified different fluids simply because sometimes Dexron-III is noisy in extremely cold weather. The Pentosin is probably synthetic, but it is at $24/qt.

I personally think these PS pumps can use the standard Dexron-III w/o issues.

I think Bourbon helps.
I followed a series of lively discussions about Seafoam over there. I don't think they ever really got it resolved.

Agree and all these have worked exceptional so far with many other cars and are compatible with DEXIII.
