I think I saw some screws underneath the front edge of the dash under the door.... are those what you're referring to?

maybe, i saw a diagram where it showed screws above the door and below the airbag that hold the latch into the actual box, not the door. still unsure if i can access from the outside, i might just have to give up and drill the glovebox and get a screwdriver to hit the mechanism. either way i get it open, i'll probably take the trim piece off for easier access. temporary permanent fixes, you know?

just for everyone here, i will also keep you all updated on my progress, i'll be giving it a shot either today or tomorrow, without using the hacksaw method and without drilling a hole in my glovebox door.

gave in and did the hacksaw method. had some unforseen problems with my starter so went to pnp for a new one since they had an 850 in the yard. unfortunately no glovebox latch, but there is still an odometer at around 180k~ kms, might work if anyone wants to get it. picked the t5 badge as well because why not. so, i now have a car that starts better than when i bought it. there is a seperate thread where i can say what was left on the pnp car.
