I don't pull the plug any more. Way too much clean up of drips, splashing, oily towels, gloves and oil pan cleaning besides messy pouring and lastly funnel clean up. Also, invest in a 5 gallon jug for easy pore and transport. A garbage bag outside and in a box for extra measure. Regardless of brand recommend minimum of an 8L extractor so you can extract all the oil at once, leaving a little extra room in the extractor for suction and ease of pouring into a jug.

That being said I had considered the electric pump in the beginning but did not find one that I felt was reliable so went with a manual extractor.

I had difficulty when time came to using this as I thought it was such a waste to use such nice water jug but afterwards it was a no brainier for the no mess and stability during pouring. Didn't have to worry like the gallon oil containers tipping over when transporting.
