For what it's worth, I have met the owner and think he has done a great job in bringing life back to a forgotten wreck. He has figured the problems out and has made HIS car. He is more in the tech world then I will ever be, and his use of that has helped him figure out the problems.
Age is very seldom mentioned on this site, but I am an older person as compared to others, very old.
That being said, I applaud him for his accomplishments.

It's not always about worth or money, it's making something your own. From the pics and posts in this thread, I'd say that's exactly what's going on. When I've been working on my cars, it's also been a trust issue - I know what's been done and what hasn't, and I know how it's been done as well. And the sense of accomplishment is there to cheer progress along.

This is like taking a whole bunch of wood and build a dining table and 8 chairs. Been there done that, hey I am a wood worker so I understand the feeling of accomplishment.
Back to business, you are lucky the color is Black. To save $, go to paint store and buy a few cans of Dupli-Color, but you have to get the "Gloss Black" (don't buy the matte finish).
Bring the car inside the garage (you don't want wind when painting), temp must be above 10C for the paint to work properly. Apply 2-3 coats over the the area that you sanded and prime.
Give it a good 4-6h between coats.

I know where you're coming from. That was the original idea with this car, but I've since changed my mind, obviously. I've grown to love this car, and as a car guy like me, I like to be able to say "I made this." Did a little more work today, mainly trying to get that rotted motor mount bushing out (I've been hitting that thing for 3 days now, and that plastic sleeve will not move! I cut it a little bit, and now I'm soaking it in WD40 and PB blaster). I then decided to take a look at my spark plugs, since I have new ones and want to replace them. Pull out plug #1, oil on it. It was a little hard to break loose, and when I pulled it out, it broke in half. Once I got it out all the way, I noticed how much oil was actually on it. Mostly on the thread, though.
Then, I go to look at cylinder 2 (going from the left). The spark plug well was full of oil, including the boot. I'm going to assume this is a combination of the PCV and the oil cap seal. I just replaced the oil cap seal today, but after reading around, I'd like to get the PCV parts before running the car, just to avoid blowing out the rear main seal.
I didn't check cylinders 3-5, but I really don't like the color of that oil. I also don't like the fact that there's RTV (I assume that's what this guy used) on the boot. I'm really hoping that's just what spilled in from the oil cap or PCV hose.

Got the bushing in, though! Lots of WD40 and a smaller sized screw driver finally wedged it out for me. I cleaned out the mount, and the poly bushing slid right in. Torqued it down, and all is well! Now to the PCV...

If I understand correctly, you were working on removing the upper torque rod bushing. If there ever is a next time, cut the outer sleeve 85% through with a hacksaw blade sawing from the inside outward. Then pry up one side of the cut with a screwdriver. it will split and coil inward just enough to take all the internal tension off and you can push it out with your fingers. 
I tried the poly bushing but couldn't tolerate the vibration it transmitted into the cabin.
