Tried to remove the outer CV joint (broken gaiter). I got the axle out easily enough but the damn retainer ring seems to have broken inside the groove and there's no way to expand it. I am now not sure what to do. Force it off with violence?

Does anyone know anything about adding thise to a r design?? Note: this car had a small accident right rear corner years ago. And I found some disconnected wire harness where the rear speaker is in the trunk. Any thoughts? I'm not sure where it goes on the rear door . Maybe the license plate light assy? There's 2. Thanks for any help also Revis the cat loves the pics!!
I think you're going to need an aftermarket head unit (radio) and camera...

When you go to put it back in, place some decent CV or axle grease all around the ring so it pops in and out easier next time. We had a bugger of a time getting one of mine in until I lubed the shaft.

Ugh. Still want to know the difference between AWD and XC stays. My life won’t be complete not knowing this.

How did that eccentric bolt look? Definitely heat the nut and turn carefully to avoid breaking, they are NLA but we have spares in stock, thanks to Neil.

I don't get that many visitors to the office unless we've fricked up in epic fashion. This typically means my unit is on the news. Thankfully that has not happened during my tenure. I think $8B+ without mistake thus far. Zero % acceptable oops factor.

Thank uvm. I wasn't sure if I needed the radio head unit. It looks like the wiring is there. This car was hit in the left rear a few years back. No airbags went off but I think they replaced the electronic lift gate with a standard one. For 55k miles somethings look like they have been worked on underneath the car and not well. Exhaust hanger ect... today xc60 I will try to make a mode of operation list to change the oil. I get the weirdest noise when I give it power l. It feels up front. Like something with the AWD. I'll look further when it's on lift. Oh...also abs module missing. Wonder if this is normal?

Marzzy, while you are in the wrong forum for your question, I'm not sure on the head units for Volvo's of that age. I'm going to assume that the head unit currently fitted may not have an input to support the bac up camera.

When I wanted a back up camera, my local electronics store were able to fit a Sony head unit to my 03 Toyota 4Runner. I wired and drilled the hole for the camera wire feed into the tailgate and they did the rest for me.

If you decide to try this yourself, be aware the wi-fi back up cameras can be time delayed. I have know owners to back into objects thet were close up due to the delay.

Good Luck! Maybe try posting in the correct forum area for your vehicle as it is more likely you will find support for your questions there:
