Years ago I can across some guys from India that tap out classic body panels by hand from flat sheet metal. I ask them if they could tap me out a 57 Chevy. They discussed among themselves then came back with a yes.

When I visited China in 84 VW Shanghai was starting out it seemed. Parts were shipped in for assembly. They were operating in an old Chinese car factory and soldering was still used for finishing the seams on the old (style) cars being manufactured.

That's fascinating to watch, and they seem to have the right equipment and know what they're doing, but I question whether the integrity of the steel is compromised. You can bend and pound it back to shape, but it could have been deformed past its yield point and is weakened. I also see a lot of parts that were originally bonded - is welding them back together the same?

Unless that car was nearly new, I think in the US that would have been totaled right off the bat.

Back in the 1980's I worked for a company that made pressure tanks. A typical tank was 45 PSI, but 10 foot in diameter. The steel components of the tank were 0.25 to 0.38 thick. Our process used sheet rollers and powered spinning rolls to shape the steel into cylinders and dished heads much like your air tank.
We learned some of our competitors in Asia hammered the dished heads to shape on a dirt floor.
There were also reports of shipyard welders using broken tinted bottles as welding eye protection.
It wasn't just cheap labor. Life was cheap.

In the majority of the world regulations are few and enforcement is slack so those cars can go back on the street. He would make a killing here as a custom car fabricator. Come to think of it there are a lot "Rebuilt", "Salvage" Title cars on the road in the U.S. also.

Think about crushing a tin can (a little extreme) and this guy is reshaping it to original "like" appearance .

This guy in California is having his vintage Touring-bodied Alfa Romeo built nearly from scratch. They were originally made with lightweight steel body support tubing with an aluminum skin..."Superleggera" or "superlight." He's obviously found an artist.

Flushing the entire brake system while replacing all brake lines in the 03 S80, starting from the farthest brake caliper seemed to firm the pedal but it was not spongy to begin with. Feel more confident, pedal firmer and a little higher it seems. Took exactly 1 qt. of Castro Dot 3 & 4. Just dawned on me it may have to do with the stainless lines.

Wasn't going after performance, just needed to replace one with a broken outer skin. The price for 4 was so reasonable decide to do all 4. Good investment.
