I would definitely recommend at least checking that wiring anyway. I didn't have anything more than a funky trunk lock (wouldn't disable the alarm if I unlocked with the key) on my GLT and I had multiple cut wires back there.

Installed my remanufactured propshaft.... but now there is a whining noise coming from the front end, most noticeable at 40 mph! Could this be the angle gear? The sleeve/collar was already plug welded in about 25k miles ago.
Any suggestions welcome.

Check and verify you don't have tires on one axle that are excessively worn compared to the other axle. It (at least on mine) caused this noise.

In order to learn how to fix something, you must first learn how to break it.

Thanks.
I will flush the angle gear oil a few times. From what I've read, this can also help with the noise.

I installed four new tires about 35k miles ago and rotated front to back once since then. Will re examine.

Thanks again!

Thanks, gents! The remote starter wire has ~12.6V, central locking fuse looks OK, and the rear hatch wires appear intact. I was looking at this thread, which suggests checking the PNP switch next: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=86888&start=10

Also, I looked at the '99 V70XC and the '98 V70 relays and discovered that they were different part numbers. When I looked at the '00 V70, I found that it had no relay in the starter position — and yet it starts like it's brand new. What gives!?

Frustrated with the no-start in my '99 V70 XC, I pulled the replacement starter, tested it, and learned a lesson: Don't automatically trust used parts. A new one is on order.

Well, with any luck a new one will get the car going!

Finally got some time to undo my heater core bypass and get some heat back with the whole winter thing happening. However I ran into a snag. My buddy bypassed the heater core some time ago and all he could tell me was that the clips disintegrated. I bought new clips and found that the lower port will not "snap" in place no matter how hard I push. I took a picture with my phone and I don't believe I see any "sleeve" with slots for the clips to snap into. The top port does have the sleeve so I think maybe it came out with the clip when he removed the hoses. Can some confirm this?
