Thank you so much,
this seems to be just as spiky. That's good news. Was pretty exhausted today.
Have you ever looked at the throttle plate during the test?
Does it flutter?
I'm asking again 'cause I read the whole thread and couldn't find anyone reporting that the plate was fluttering.
You clearly said I can pick any yellow label ETM from a P2 5 cylinder turbo. Sorry.
And I read that you are saying that if I measure the voltages and adjust I should be fine and no need for software upload.
So measure old ETM's voltages and match these voltages in new ETM when builiding in the new sensor.
Correct?
Thank you so much.

It's not exactly a totally smooth action when they self test. I've looked at more than I care to mention. They stay pretty much on their path, throttle plate wise. The only one that fluttered was out of a S70 2000 turbo that had a big enough flutter to call up codes. I replaced it with a P2 5 cyl turbo I had in stock.
It drove me crazy as I put the customer's one in my XC70 P2 project car thinking the Sacer sensor would sort it all out. Fortunately I found a really good '08 build from the seller I mentioned.
I mentioned the P2 turbo 5 cylinder because it's more likely it will have money spent on it (and therefore be a later build ETM) being a more valuable car than a P80 turbo.
The programming matches from the model I mentioned. All you need to do is fit it.
BUT before you waste money on that replace the relay as it's the only way to be sure.

I will get the relay tomorrow and hope this solves the problem.
I saw your video and this plate also moves kind of shaky but I feel mine flatters a little more.
Once the relay is changed I will run the test again and I could post a video of the plate moving.
Thank you so much for all your work. That is outstanding!

I'll try to embed this video: First screenshot of unrepaired test is at 6:25 and repaired test is at 8:25

Short update:
Changed the relay. Still can't find the Ground on the engine.
I ran like 7 sweep tests and they all looked fine (max. difference of 0.8 degree)
However the flutter in the etm is still there. See the video I posted:
Is this a normal movement?
I also found a yellow label 02 ETM from a V70 on a yunkyard for 40 dollars.
I ran 5 sweep tests on it. They all looked fine (max diff 0.7)
I also saw some fluttering but not as pronounced as on mine.
Mike, you said I would have to look for codes on this "new" ETM. Can I do this without fully installing the ETM on the car?
This is the plan: Since the old ETM seems to be working fine and has the new sensor I will give it a shot and build it into the car tonight.
If that doesn't work I will mount the new Sensor on the "new" ETM and mate it with the car.
What do you guys think?
Thanks for all your support.

Most of the ETMs I've tested have this movement. Splitting hairs.
The main thing is that it now doesn't snap shut and open during the test; it seems the relay has taken care of that. The spare one MUST be from a turbo if you want to use it, however it would be best to use the Sacer with it as most of them are a time bomb anyway.
On my NA 2000 block the earth is on a brown lead with a brass ring with a 12mm bolt attaching it near the oil pressure switch. However on my 2001 XC70 it's above the starter.

Okay here is the summary:
Engine got overheated by a friend because radiator cracked. Ten months ago.
Engine survived after install of new radiator drives fine
Ten days later transmission acted up. Vibrating and kicking during engaging.
Volvo guy around the corner says Tranny is shot and spits out codes linking to solenoids.
Car sometimes goes into limb mode. However no ETM codes.
Order of new valve body and VIDA.
Install of new valve body and finally getting Vida started.
2 Transmission flushes in that time. Correct Fluid!
VIDA spits out ETS codes linking to ETM.
ETM removed. Contactless sensor installed. ETM tests fine.
Install of ETM, ETM Test after install fine.
Test drive after erasing codes and putting into adaptive mode.
Same driving behaviour, rattling engaging of gears. Vibrations through the whole car during shifts.
Surging. Down shifts smooth. Garage shifts=heavy kicks.
After 5 min test drive flashing arrow back on and check engine.
After car was stopped ETS light on. ETM test shows this and VIDA reads these codes After restarting car idles crazyly. Engine almost dies of (300 rpm)
Limb mode.
I'm very desperate. I'm pretty sure the tranny is shot and the valve body fix didn't help.
I'm also sure that something is wrong with the control modules. Which of these is failing not even VIDA seems to be able to tell. The tranny is shifting badly but all VIDA gives is one code refering to 4th gear.
But horrbile shifts are happening between 1-2 and 2-3 .
Easiest solution: Original voltage and new voltage of ETM were too far off.
I measured around 0.5 volt difference.
ETM relay is shot and new ETM could cure problems.
Or car is simply too dead and should be driven to the yunkyard.
I really need your help on this on!
Thank you guys.
I love this ride. I have tried to save it but it is getting so frustrating.
Car is in the garage since 10 months.
New pieces in the last 2 years Timing belt, water pump, radiator, upper strout mounts, tranny oil 4 times, new tires, new brakes. Several oil changes.. Valve body, tranny gasket.
What would you guys do?
Thanks
