I doubt LKQ OKC would pick and ship. If they did most likely would cost as much or more then the used ones I found on eBay ~$70.00. I got the one I have out of LKQ Wichita for $15.00.

2007 - 2014 3.2L XC90s have the same frame. Volvo part number 30730523. There is a 2011 3.2L XC90 in Wichita that has one but the front end is all smashed in. It would be a miracle if it survived and I could retrieve it.

I would need to work out the dimensions and methods for fabricating one. I do not have sheet metal tools. It would need to be clamps, boards and rubber mallets for bending.

I have not installed the fan yet. It is just hanged by a couple of wire hangers.

Back side install would be the quickest and easy. I have all the hardware. If the motor cannot take the heat, the fan is only $26.00. Then I could try a front mount with all the additional steps.

Opinions? Insights?

Puller fans tend to be better/more efficient from what I've read, so you might want to stick with that setup. That just might be okay where it is. It looks a little close, but like you said worst case, it burns out from the heat and you can find another setup.

Offsetting the fan on the radiator gives about 2 " of clearance. Perhaps the best solution is 2 x 12" fans mounted catty-corner.

My tiny 1.8T VW engine has two cooling fans in two stages

That may be a really good idea. Miatas use the same setup of two fans.

Two 12" circles will fit in a 24" X 18" rectangle but before I order I'm going to sit down and figure out two 14" will fit.

14" will not fit. They would be about 10.8 " center to center when mounted catty-corner. They would overlap.
The heat exchanger on the radiator is 18" x 24" √ ((18 – (2 x 7)) + (24 – (2 x 7))) = 10.77 . The The hypotenuse of a right angle between the two center points.

Here is a wild one: Take a gang of computer fans and plastic weld them together into a matrix. They are thin enough to fit between the radiator and the condenser without any fabrication to the rest. ( Would not work. computer fans have a low air flow for a given surface area and a higher percentage of the surface area is blocked by the motor. )

Two 12" fans cover more surface area then one 16" fan. Combined air flow is the same as a 16".

Ordered two 12" for $40.00. That is what I am going to roll the dice with.

Rick, the new beetle fan is really compact , let me know if I can measure it if plan A devolves.
