Today, the '00 V70 started and stalled a few times before I finally got it to stay on. This used to happen only upon fueling up the car but now seems to be occurring a couple of times a week. SRS + ETS lights were on. Cleared codes (P0440 and P1670), and now ETM light is off.

This week I’ve changed rear shocks and bump stops, front struts (complete swap), inner and outer tie rods all myself. Invested in some impact tools and bigger air compressor and that’s helped a lot.

I was planning on doing timing belt/water pump next summer but my oil leak has gotten worse. Just pulled timing belt cover. The inside is wet with oil and it’s using more oil. This has started in the last two weeks. Guessing it’s a cam or crank seal. I drive it 500+ miles a week and have managed to do all repairs while driving it daily for work. It does pass the “glove test” and the oil fill cap gasket is new.

Time to start watching videos again!

Nice! I’ve been tempted to pick one of those up a couple times. I want another XC90 for myself.
How’s the transmission?

When I was checking it out, the PO had to jump start the car, battery flat dead.

It had a codes for Shift solenoid S2 and DEM along with a long list of other DTCs. The drive home was something else, had to kick in in neutral to stop, did not have much power.

Got it home shut it off, battery still flat dead (8.9V) after 40 miles drive. Replaced the battery, cleared codes, ran it around neighborhood. So far the Shift solenoid S2 and DEM have not come back and it appears to be shifting OK. Could not really work the transmission, engine issues to work out, not much power.

More then likely I got a lot of deferred maintenance and repairs to work through. It is wet and chilly here now. I'll wait until next week when the sun is to come out and the temperature gets up in the 70s. Then I'll take it's vital statistics and work out a plan of attack.
