Hi all, wondering if i could resurrect this thread as this is the best information i've found about Volvo the 1998 v70 toe link stabilizer control arm stay rod track bar (this thing has so many names....).
As someone pointed out the Volvo Control Arm - Genuine Volvo 9200005 is no longer available anywhere. This part as listed as fitting both the AWD w/o XC and the AWD XC.
However the Volvo Alignment Camber/Toe Lateral Link - Skandix 9157297 is available, but only claims fitment to the AWD w/o XC. How could this be? Has anyone put this part on a 1998 V70 XC?
Also can anyone list and link to the required hardware?
Can i just drive without this??? Or is my car totaled by a broken hundred dollar metal bar? Thank you so much

My buddy fitted a pair from a V70XC from my stash to his 97 850AWD (basically the same as an V70R or V/S70 AWD). He is an ex-Volvo mechanic and he did the alignment himself where he now works and had no issues. So no idea why Scandix says they are not for V70 AWD or V70XC?
I don't think I have any more used spares available to sell, but I can check if I still have one and measure approximate center to center of the holes.
While this is not always definitive, the part shows as still available as a classic part, but horribly expensive (CDN$):
https://www.volvocarstorontoparts.ca/p/ ... 57297.html
I do take this info with a pinch of salt as it has been wrong in the past. So I checked for a 98 V70 AWD and sure enough, if you go down to item $25, it lists different part numbers for V70XC and AWD.

You cannot drive without it. Incredibly , I’ve got a 1999 xc70 parting out north of you in Albany which we can get a part from.
I’m not sure if there is a difference but the eccentric bolt inboard is NLA so do not snap it. I would cut the nut off before applying any torque here. That’s really hard to work around, see upthread.
I’m only 60 miles east of you on Long Island

thanks yes FCP has the same one part #9157297. will it fit on my V70 XC?
I've driven about 1,000 miles without it. No issues with the alignment or wandering so far. What would happen if i keep driving without it?

Probably in the city at low speed you are ok. I towed once without one in place and the car was all over the road.
Its sets the toe on the rear wheels so tires will wear out without it

This is unfortunately more common on Volvo sites these days. Problem is also even Vida today pulls it's info from the same places. However, if you look up on a Volvo dealer site that sells to you online, they all use the same databases (except Tasca). For your car when I put a request for a 99 V70XC, it lists the same part, but then says EXC V70XC?????????????? So why do they list it under this car?
All I can tell you is I gave a set from a V70XC to a buddy of mine who is an ex-Volvo mechanic with a 97 850 AWD (manual trans) and they fitted and aligned fine. Now maybe a rash decision, but would one not consider the reverse is true. Maybe the only option is to buy one for the regular AWD cars and agree with the supplier if it can be returned.
Good Luck!
Neil.
