'98 models (70 series) switched them to the driver's door...a much better design in my opinion...

Rears are manual wind on mine hence no switches . The only people that go in the back are the kids and they know better than to play with the windows and with the new rear car seat laws in the uk they cant really get their paws on em if they tried . Boosters make them a good way out of reach lol . Shame the girls is barbie pink it clashes something awful with the emerald green paint lol .

Each to their own I suppose lol . Was very pleasantly surprised to find the centre rear rest was a booster seat . When I bought the car it was upright but the tab was unfastened . I pulled it and it didnt move so i tugged it and it came down in two pieces . Hell I thought Id busted the darn thing lol . Sure stops me worrying about the middle child as by law you cant have an aftermarket centre booster . Never felt 100% safe with him rattling inbetween a booster and a baby seat . Now he has his own special seat . Lol he thinks the cars a transformer

NB on the center seat: If your kids have a habit of falling asleep on journeys like mine, the lack of side support on the inbuilt seat means my daughter falls out of the seatbelt - fine if there are seats either side I guess. There is also a 5olb warning on the seat, don't know if this applies just to the states/California. Great a a spare seat though. So whats behind the law against center after market seats in the UK? I don't get it, they always advise thats the safest place due to the the distance from side impact - is it to do with the lack of forward "restraint" i.e. backs of front seats??? Looks like it solves your problem though, but I feel sorry for the other families with 3 kids.

Not to continue with my ramblings but when we had our 850, our kid also loved that center seat...many trips were taken with it...we just packed all of our luggage around him and put a pillow on each side. It was his favorite spot to fall asleep in! Great Volvo design!

Reasoning is that a lot of uk cars only have a lap belt not a full belt in centre. So any booster you put in would injure the child more than protect them . So rather than add another complication to the law they just said no centre seats . The whole law is full of contradictions as per usual .

You can get out of having child seats by telling a policeman "its an unscheduled journey" so if you dont plan your trip you dont need one . And they wonder why most of the populace think the government are on drugs lol .

I noticed the problem with no side supports when we took both kids seats out . I went round a bend and he fell off it lol . Got to agree though . Its a fabulous idea and sure beats the heck out of cup holders . Those things are a mystery to me lol .

Ok, I dont want too digress too much, but this is maybe an interesting thread for other Volvo parents out there. Anyway, I spoke to my girlfried who is a Pediatric Nurse in the intensive care unit here and she tells me they get alot of indjuries due to properly restrained children in center care seats being projected forward into the front compartment, rather than being stopped by the seat backs where there is less chance of serious injury. I bought a new car seat last night, and will just use the center for emergencies or guests if no other alternative.

Back on track, for the center console light replacement did you notice the wattage, thought I saw it noted somewhere but can't find it now. Reason I ask is I am looking into LED bulbs to replace many of the bulbs that have gone, especially the switch lights - those are easy to get to but I would like to have the console one handy when I take the thing apart,

Cant say I did notice Sal tbh lol . There wasnt any markings on the bulb thats for sure .
