Yea, i'm going to keep an eye out at the junk yard and see I can find a whole new panel instead of tearing it apart to look for those LEDs.

Thanks. And to think, I almost tore that SOB apart - glad I didn't.

http://www.seawinds.ws/volvo/instrument_cluster.htm

I replaced all 4 of the main bulbs and the one clock back light bulb. The main bulbs are referred to as W3W "wedge" bulbs. They snap in and out to their holder. Pep Boys, AutoZone and others carry them. Look for Sylvania 2821, 12v 3w. $2.99/pkg of 2.

I bought the clock bulb from Volvo as it was only $2.98 (!!).

TIP: there are a LOT of lights in the instrument cluster. Carefully write down which areas are dead before you take everything apart. You want to avoid having to repeat the removal because you missed one (I did).
My lights are mostly burned out, and the odometer gears are broken. I'm assuming that I can kill two birds with one stone using these steps?

The W3W bulb that is used in our cluster is a 1.75 MSCD (brightness) bulb. If you want something a little brighter:

194 Bulb is a 2 MSCD bulb with a tiny bit more amperage draw.

168 Bulb is a 3 MSCD bulb.

and the brightest wedge bulb is the 2825 or W5W a 4 MSCD bulb.

I've ran the W5W without any issues or burning out. It was so nice and bright that i really had turn down the dimmer just to get it nice and comfy for my eyes...lol.

I have a USA 1996 854 n/a manual transmission

I just picked up a trip computer and installed it, only to find out the bulbs were bad. No problem, I picked up a couple of osram 12/1.2 bulbs at the local Volvo dealer for $3 and installed them. Now I'm noticing that the INFO switch that controls the trip computer doesn't light up. Is it supposed to? Can that bulb be changed or should I look for another switch?

Also, one of my seat heater switch lights is out. If the slider for the dash light intensity is supposed to light up, that one is out too (though the rear-fog-lamp switch which looks to be part of the same unit is working fine).

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

The INFO switch light is the same bulb as all of the other switches. You can buy a totally new switch and simply pop the existing switch out. Remove the lower panel and then push the switch out from the back. Then press the new switch back in from the front. This is probably the easiest, but most expensive.

If you look at page 1 & 2 of this thread it has the part numbers for the light bulb itself. The bulb is removable and replaceable. It's the same bulb for the rear fog lamp switch and the other switches nearby.
