its on the pulley below the shown wrench and tool.
Im not confused about orientation, eld4au6 says that only a crescent is needed, Im saying that the crescent wrench in the picture is clearly attached to a (not stock on the rest of our cars) square that is inserted into the tensioner. We are not discussing what you use to torque the tensioner, but what actually inserts into the tensioner so that leverage can be applied. Quote "all you need is an open end wrench..no need for a tool" Yes need for a tool. The rest of our tensioners dont have a metal block sticking out of them to turn with a crescent. Every one else has manufactured some simple item to fit the tensioner, obviously this guy or his previous owner has built something and after using it probably couldnt get it out, now someone thinks that its part of the tensioner.

osman,

You focus in that square hole. "eld4au6" focuses on the square thingy lower down.

The quote above is what I referred to. I think "eld4au6" has his point.
I sketched in BLUE color above.
No need for any tool if you use an adjustable wrench from below!

Now I get it. Your diagram makes it clear. I just wanted an explanation that the wrench in the pic is not the wrench he was writing about. Showing a picture of one method while writing about another was creating too much cognitive dissonance for my tastes. But I love the idea for its simplicity. Sorry for thread clogging.

You're not stealing from them, rather the one who took it. If someone lifts tech from this site via G's cached page for their personal site, would you say G was the victim?

Phew, have fun releasing the tension from the bottom and inserting a pin in the top to lock it down.

Yeah, after hauling out the floor jack and stands just to be able to access the tensioner from the bottom, it doesnt seem like a time saver. I try to avoid doing anything from the bottom that can be done from the topside.

This has been mentioned before but a 1/2-inch drive and a few pennies would do it!

The pennies work, but I end up mutilating one of them and costing me one cent every time.
