Oh sorry yes, will work just fine with re-flashing, sedan or wagon makes no difference on the ECU. Any 98 turbo ECU, GLT or T5, is ready to be flashed for an 850 turbo.

Ok, here is what I have. White injectors and a ecu out of a s70, T5 1998. Starting to come together. :) I now have to figure out how to flash this ecu or get someone to do it for me......hint.....hint. I'm going to start cleaning everything up, replacing all vacuum lines that look even remotely bad. I also still need the gaskets to install the 15g turbo. I wonder if I should have it checked out. all seems fine but I'm no turbo expert so, I try to find a place to look at it.
The machine shop said it will be atleast a week before my head is done so I have some research time.

Regardless though, I am pretty sure that for your 850, any V70 ECU (well, any 98 V70 turbo ECU) would need to be reflashed because of the AC issue mentioned above. The pinouts are different in a 98. But if it is a 98 T5 then grab the ECU, it will work great.
Ok, I have my vin but don't understand how this tells me if my car has a 4.4 or 4.3?

Ok, I figured it out I have a 4.4 so do I have to flash the ecu? and if I do do I do it in the car? wouldn't that burn up my climate controller? I'm lost on this stuff.

We are talking about T5 here.There is no Motronic 4.4 in '97 850 T5.
'97 850 2.5 20v / fully equipped / Motronic 4.4 from the factory / upgraded with S,V,C,XC70 instrument cluster / polar white wagon

Well you are only talking about T5 :D, and you are right about that point, but check the thread title and the postings, OP also needs to know about his GLT (LPT). And every US spec 97 GLT (VIN 56) is Motronic 4.4.

Another easy thing to remember it is that every 850 with an air pump is m4.4. Turbo, non-turbo, whatever if it is an 850 with an air pump then it is m4.4. And ALL 98 S/V/C 70 are 4.4.

The ECU re-flashing is complicated to learn because there are 10,000 pages of instructions for one pretty straightforward task, but then easy to do once you have figured it out. The best thing for you to do if you are changing ECUs and the hardware is to get a spare turbo ECU (any will do as discussed) and flash in a fresh 98 T5, m4.4, with the AC modification, and drop it in your 850. Keep the old ECU so you have it, I am confident enough in the tunes to use them but not enough to throw away the original ECU. I will respond to your PM.

Missed your earlier post about the ECU: that's a good one, a 451 ECU. And those are the matching white injectors, yep.
