In this world, a part A you bought 5 years ago from Brand B has no relation to the part you buy today from vendor C, even with the same part number

The exception is OE Volvo parts.

Price will tell you the quality, 95% of the time.

I realize the change of supply source can change the quality, but we also need to know if the long term quality was any good. Perhaps a separate thread of suppliers versus longevity of use would be good while realizing quality can change at any time. As original Volvo parts become unavailable, we will need to select the best of the lesser suppliers. Talk here sounds like the 850s have reached this stage and the 1999/2000 models are also losing Volvo parts. The 240 series has had some gaps in supply for years.

Thanks for the long term service report. It seems rare for MVS to a long term report on alternative brands.

That goes for any forum. Unfortunately people post about parts (or anything else, for that matter) and years later when somebody else is curious, the user is nowhere to be found. Same issue with various problems that go unsolved.

We have tried to resolve that two ways

1 part numbers to identify issues and make them searchable

b. Early tagline MVSOLVED

iii. ID threads with resolution, later replaced by green check

I thought when we made the change it was possible to search on green checks, uh oh........

We're probably one of the best sites for that here on MVS... it's easy to find solutions compared to many forums where there are a bunch of dead ends.
