Seems I've joined the ranks of fighting and arguing with the removal of the ABS bottom right torx bolt head. So far I'm unsuccessful! Took about 10 minutes to remove 3 bolts. After 4 plus hours of fatal attempts to remove the fourth *#%&^! bolt, I called it a night and will start at it again this morning. I share sentiments with all the reviews I've just read in this forum in everyone's frustration trying to remove the "4th" bolt. Reading the comments has given me a little light of hope that the removal of the "4th" bolt can be accomplished. However unorthodox it may be. :)
I do most all of my own repairs on our vehicles. Foreign and domestic. And occassionally, there's that one very difficult nut, bolt, connector, hose, pipe, sensor, that one wants to throw a hammer at followed with a 5lb sledge hammer  All things considered, when frustration begins to rise to gasket blowing outburst, I remind myself of all the miles the car has given our family. Many, many trouble free miles of road trips, to work, family outings and the list goes on. It helps me keep things in perspective. We have a 1996 Volvo 850 Sedan that my fiancee purchased new in her first marriage. Here the car is, 27 years old, 276,000 plus miles, and it has been worthy of every single mile it has given' her, us and her oldest daughter who used it at college for 4 years. This past October 2023, we took it on a road trip to the Grand Canyon National Park. A 3,200 mile road trip and the Volvo performed flawless!! I was beyond impressed with the Swedish engineering of this one 1996 Volvo 850 Sedan! It may not be perfect. It may not be show room condition. But it's pretty damn close.
Truth be told, the ABS had been acting up for a while but we chanced it on the road trip. Svetlana as my fiancee named it so many years ago, is a masterpiece of Swedish engineering! In my book anyways. Now, where was I?? Oh! Yeah - the "4th" bolt.........
Best to you all, Eric,

I know some have had luck using a regular M4 socket. I would suggest re-fitting at least one of the 'good' bolts to take the weight of the ABS module while battling the bad one. As the car is a turbo, did you remove the turbo intake pipe? In the automatics, the cable for the PnP switch if I recall is also a pain as it makes access difficult.

I wish you luck!

Neil.

I can confirm the 4mm socket works well.
