I think the key to those drain valves is never put a tool on them. Finger tight only.
When you feel the Oring make contact with the thread, maybe an 1/8 turn more. If it seeps a bit, drive it for a week and it will stop.
Kind of like the home plumbing rule - if a joint drips less than once a minute, it will heal.

I've learned my lesson. And with every unseasonably cold Spring day (snow tmrw?!!) I am saying to myself, why did you open and close it so much! Lesson learned!
