850 immobilizer fun

Sommerfeldt....when i don't know something i read and learn....you could do that too.

Chipped keys on 850 ARE STANDARD in ALL European models from '96 models.

Mine is '97 and have chipped key.Uk models ALL have chipped keys,also,from '96.

The FACT is that ALL European car makes HAVE chipped keys as a standard from '96.

You should have chipped key also if some previous owner didn't disable that function and bridged immobiliser.

Do a little research before you start claim some false things.

Misha. You should take your own advice. I have a '96, and IT IS NOT STANDARD ON MINE. I don't have it. And mine's a T5, one of the top equipped models, originally bought by a Volvo tech.

Immobilizers for the 850s are listed in the ACCESSORIES catalogue. I.e. they were NOT standard. The FACT is that you're wrong.

They simply weren't installed unless you ordered it. As an accessory. Which is also why it's in the accessories catalogue. Page 4.51. Again, you should probably take your own advice and read a little before you state something as absolute fact.

As for the OP, Volvo actually has a bypass relay (or had, I don't know if they make it anymore) which would bypass the immobilizer (if your car has one), but again, it might cost you some bucks. If it even exists anymore.

Or, locate relay 210/211, jump pins 50e and 50f on the 210 side. Or talk to Ozark Lee. We all want to see that car live past 30.

If you're talking to me, windshield's stamped 2015, the rest 2011. Well. That's when they were changed, anyway. B/c of damage (windshield) and for tinting (the rest). And yes, there are airbags here, there and everywhere.

All windows replaced for some reason....no chipped key....something isn't right here.How you can be sure that other things are stock?!
My car is original,bought back in 2000 from a familly friend with 69k km.
It have Motronic 4.4 pretty rare for 850.
It came from the factory with 16" Persus wheel...also pretty rare....usually they come with 15" with n/a engine.
It came with front fog lights(spot lights) from the factory.

Car is not manufactured "by order".
I also thought that all 850s came from factory without chipped keys....i found out that i was wrong....they actually had them...like i said....from '96.

You will find out that you're wrong too....if you want to accept that.
