Of course Robert did his differently, and made a video. During his manual conversion, he rehabbed cables with skateboard bearings. Low cost, low friction, precise actuation.
Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

I ordered the SS ones from Snabb and took the dimensions off of one, so for anyone who has access to a lathe:

I am looking to do this on my 850 T5 with the same gearbox, as I have a fair bit of slop. I also have a rattle during load in 4th, where the gearstick vibrates sounds like its hitting the assembly somewhere so I'm hoping this will fix that too.

I read somewhere (I believe on Volvospeed) that these bushing are the same as those on the Mk1 and 2 MR2s - is this correct? I can't seem to source any Volvo-specific ones here in the UK and shipping from the US is criminal. I have seen Robert's very useful video too, if I were to go down that route would I be looking for bearings with the same size as helpfully pictured above?

TIA.

Use this as a temporary method to see if it solves your issues first before spending the big $$$.
