Dash Cam thought? Hardwiring into power.

So confused, so if I tap into the Red wire on the accessory plug under the dash and then the black wire for ground, I should be good? I think this is what a buddy did to hook up his pod gauges as well.

Yup! Should be fine - note that that will give you a "hot all the time" connection, which might trickle some charge out of your battery if you leave your cam running, but other than that, you're good. :)

Speedy - Refer to these diagrams - These are the wires that should appear at the yellow connector in your car.
Your dash cam installation instructions should indicate whether your cam power needs to have constant or switched power.

Select the large Red wire in Pin 1 position for constant power
-or-
the smaller Brown/Orange in Pin 2 position for key switched power.
