I did see someone selling packs of 15 rivets for $15 US + shipping on eBay.com. Over $35 free shipping in US if that helps anyone? At the dealer I paid $2.25 CDN each as a VIP customer.

Look at the nice plastic coating on the Volvo rivets that stop the paint from getting chipped... :D

Ah, but how do those button plastic parts hold up in deep snow. Can't see the mud-flaps staying on with those. Either that or move way south!

Haven't had any failures yet on my cars, where some but not all of the mudflap holes have these fasteners. It snows here in the upper midwest and the mudflaps accumulate a lot of ice daily, but we don't get deep snow any more.

I like the plastic Christmas Tree buttons too, but it seems like I end spending just as much on a few plastic boxes of them as I do rivets.

My wheel well liners cover the painted edges of the well. But I do notice that if I don't use the nylon washers, the rivet heads tend to crack the plastic the liner.

As far as attempted savings, it's a vicious cycle: This weekend is going to see $ spent at the P&P to remedy the damage from installing last week's P&P finds.

It's a sickness, with symptoms of bleeding blue, and seeing moose everywhere!

You can get 100 of those push fasteners for about $15 on eBay, that's the whole point. Just make sure you get the right size, buy them once and you can re-do a lot of P80 cars. The coated rivets from Volvo are ridiculously expensive as mentioned.

The saga continues, I was hoping the corner light dislodging when I was on the highway and the extra pieces they forgot to install would be all I had to deal with. Its pretty obvious now that they deliberately were malicious.
They removed 4 bolts from the bumper support beam and they were completely dislodged and rattling in the bumper.
Nobody forgets 4 large bolts and they could not all have come loose. The bumper skin was the only thing preventing the bumper beam from falling off. It would have been dangerous had I got into an accident. There was no reason to remove the beam, the absorber is fore of the beam, and the damage was not on the front, it was on the quarter panel, they had no business removing the bumper skin!

I couldn't believe it, I will be making a formal complaint. I will wait until the case with insurance is closed first; the cheque is in the mail.

Here is a video of how loose the bumper was:

Thanks for the advice on the rivets, I may try the push type. I bought the dealer rivets P/N 979878, $2.70 but I had to remove them to fix the bumper beam. Arghhh, I blew my top when I found out, I am in disbelief of the sheer malice. Its obvious they were sour they didn't get the work, and took it out on the car to make it difficult to repair. It was insurance's decision to not repair the car, not mine.

Any advice on the next steps? Legal action, formal complaint? If I let insurance know, they may be worried about other harm they caused to the car and not insure it?
